What He Wore // Michael Jordan Scores 30,000th Point in the Air Jordan XVII

We know it's Kobe's day, but there's never a bad time to reflect on the legendary career of one Michael Jeffrey Jordan.

With the topic of the day being the NBA's super exclusive 30,000 Point Club, we wanted to take a trip down memory lane to the day when MJ joined the ranks. Naturally you're expecting the Chicago Bulls to be involved in this great milestone, and they are, but strangely as opponents. That's right - Michael scored his 30,000th point against his beloved Bulls as a member of the Washington Wizards on January 4, 2002.

Drawing a foul from Ron Artest with a little more than 5 minutes left to play in the second quarter, Jordan stepped to the free throw line two points shy 30,000. As you'd expect, Michael drilled them both and promptly received a standing ovation from the MCI center crowd. Not exactly one the dramatic, picture perfect moments that came to define his career, but he has plenty of others to suffice.

It only took Jordan 960 games to reach 30,000 points, making him the second fastest of all-time (Chamberlain - 941).

Michael's footwear for game number 960? The Air Jordan XVII in White/College Blue. Check out a few game shots of MJ reaching 30K against his former team below.
